A measuring cup is a kitchen gadget used to measure the volume of liquids or solid cooking ingredient. I use my measuring cups to measure flour, sugar, oil, and many other liquids. The cup has scale markings at different height used for measuring the liquid. Measuring cups come in different capacities. I have cups ranging from 50ml to 1000ml. it’s quite much but that is because I do a lot of baking, you might not need something this much. Liquid Measuring Cups

Liquid now made easy to measure. The good thing about this cup is that it comes with a pour spout and a good handle that helps when pouring out your ingredients.

The first to do when using this measuring cup is to place the cup on a flat surface to give you an accurate reading.

Secondly, when measuring the liquid, look on the outside of the cup, not inside the cup. You might want to squat to do this or raise the measuring cup to your eye level.

While measuring, you will notice the top surface of your liquid is not flat with the markings outside the cup. This is due to surface tension, all you have to do is slowly add the liquid until you get a perfect level of your liquid and the markings. Although the liquid at the edges might be a bit higher than the markings, the upper meniscus doesn’t really matter.

Liquid measuring cups are quite easy to use, just read the measurement from the outside while the cup is on a steady surface.

I will use dip and sweep method to explain how to measure in this post.

The first thing to do is place your dry ingredient in a wide-mouthed jar. One that is wide enough for your measuring cup to enter.

Secondly, dip the measuring cup in the jar and lift it up. Ensuring the cup is filled with the dry ingredient and even overflowing.

Lastly, use a knife with a flat edge to level the ingredient in the cup. Make sure the ingredient and the cup are on the same level.

These Cups come in sets of 1/4/, 1/3/, 1/2 and 1 cup; odd-size measuring Cups are 2/3 cup, 3/4 cup, and 1 1/2 cups.
